Pickles

Just over a year ago we were blessed with a grand daughter and a grand son. This past year has flown by quickly and now they are beginning to walk. Emry is walking all over the place and they have found that he also enjoys pickles. While he walks around with is pickle you will see him begin to dance. He loves music. His mommy sings to him all the time. He's sure a sweetie.

Food

There are so many things to do and remember when preparing for the Christmas season. We have wrapping, shopping, decorating, Christmas letters and baking and cooking. As the day draws near I find myself trying to organize gifts and menus. I need to gather my thoughts and start a grocery list for some of the meals I may be preparing over the holidays. Food is a huge part of the celebration. With family gatherings and children returning home, I better get started!

Diet Pills

So many today are wanting to live a healthier lifestyle. They are trying to watch their weight and incorporate exercise into their daily routine. That is not always an easy task to accomplish. With the holidays upon us, many are concerned about the possibility of weight gain. They may be looking into the best diet pills out there or what new exercise machine they may purchase for Christmas. Take care of your body. It's the only one you have.

GPS

We have some good friends that headed for Texas yesterday to be with family. They have traveled the same route for years and know it very well. We offered to let them use our Garmin GPS for this trip. Not that they needed it but because they had been interested in buying one and we thought it would be a good chance for them to see how they work. Bill talked with them this afternoon when they arrived in Texas and they seemed to have really enjoyed the unit.

The Bible Experience

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to actually be able to listen to the Bible? I know I have! I thoroughly enjoy reading my Bible on a daily basis, but have always thought I would enjoy an audio version as well. There's something about listening to it that really would make it come to life! Recently I came across something like this. Now we can listen to the Bible...both New and Old Testaments. You can view a video about this audio Bible available at The Bible Experience website produced by Technicolor Studios in Holly-wood style design sound to really bring it life for those listening. You can even download a free Nick Cannon clip of this video at www.BibleExperience.com. The download code is GEN3SPRK. There are many well known actors and actresses who have taken part in making this possible. As if this isn't enough to get your curiosity rising...you may also enjoy the musical stylings of the Prague Symphony Orchestra. It really is beautiful and such a wonderful way to help you experience what you're reading even more. Enjoy the ensemble of nearly 400 award-winning actors, musicians, clergy directors and producers as you check out The Bible Experience website. You won't be sorry you did.

Wrapping Gifts

We got all of our Christmas wrapping done. Yeah, that is a great feeling. Bill was a big help with this huge project. There have been years when I did all the wrapping. Not this year though. We spent a few hours wrapping a watching a movie at the same time. We watched 'August Rush'. It was about a young boy who is a music prodigy and an orphan. Through music he attempts to find out who his parents are and where he can find them. It was movie worth seeing.

Games

When my family gets together for Christmas many of us play games after our meal. A few choose not to participate. I won't mention anyone by name BUT, my husband is one of those that won't play. He volunteers to watch the grandbabies. I give him a hard time because he just doesn't care to play. I guess that is ok, most of the others join in and we have enough to play. We have a great time!

Chex Mix

During this time of year one of my favorite snacks is Chex Mix. It has been something our whole family has enjoyed for years. I usually make a large batch of it just before Christmas and it will last us for quite awhile. I leave it in a sealed bowl in the counter and we munch on it little by little. There are many other foods I make or bake during the holidays, but Chex Mix is always a big hit.

Quick Lunch

While waiting for an appointment today we had lunch at a fast food chain restaurant. Sometimes it is easier to grab a quick meal than spend time at a sit down place. There are times when fast food sounds pretty good but it isn't something I want to eat daily. Some say that it wouldn't be healthy to do that anyway. We did enjoy the meal. We got our protein, carbs and also several other things that I may not want to know about. Anyway, it filled us up.

New TV

We had purchased a new tv recently for the living room. It is a 26 inch Vizio and we like it very much. We don't watch it very often because we prefer the addition where we have the fireplace. We had an under the counter tv/cd/radio/DVD player in the kitchen but Bill noticed the other day that it was displaying the wrong time and wasn't changing. The cd tray would not come out either. Bill did get the radio and tv working but it still had problems. So, we bought a new tv for the kitchen. The old one was only about a 7 inch screen compared to the new 19 inch. It is also a Vizio. Jake had done a lot of research when he was wanting a new tv. He chose a Vizio so we went with that brand also. We are glad we did.

Mary did you know?

I love music and all that it can bring and mean. At Christmas time one of my favorite songs is called "Mary did you know?" by Mark Lowrey. It says so much. Take time this Christmas season to click in and listen to this wonderful song.

Christmas With a Capital C!

Why do we Christians have to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas? The minority are trying to tell us we have to say Happy Holidays. Well, not me! I'm proud to say Merry CHRISTmas! Christmas is all about the birth of Christ and He should be kept in "Christmas".
Here is a cute song from YouTube by ChristLights.

Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry

With the election behind us, some of the upfront issues are not being splashed across the media any longer. Military and their families here back home are taking a backseat to other issues. With the Christmas Season drawing near many families are left without their loved ones at home. Many of us know at least one soldier who is away from their family. Wouldn't it be great if we could find a way to assist those families? We as Americans do have an opportunity to help military families by donating to Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry which is sponsored by Sears. With the help of Sears and other non-profit organizations military service members, veterans and their families are able to receive some needed items. There are many things that would be of great benefit to these families including kid’s clothes, toys, games and more. We can help them obtain these things by making a donation. It is easy to do and just think of the joy you will add to someone’s life. Military and veterans families register with this program and then will receive equal amounts in the form of a Sears’s gift card based on the total money given. Won't you help in this cause? We can make a difference in the lives of these heroes and their families.

It's so special to watch children at Christmas time! Everything is exciting and new. Our grand daughter Kaelyn was recently helping her parents with decorating for Christmas. She couldn't seem to take her eyes off of all of the sparkle and glitter. It is going to be a very special Holiday Season.

Fireproof The Movie!

What a great movie!! It is definitely a movie that we will someday own. This is an awesome movie about relationships, that everyone should see! They bring in humor while also being quite serious. If you want to laugh and cry, this is the movie you are looking for. We felt that it was one of the best movies we have ever seen! Here is a clip from YouTube.

Lighting Fixtures

Bill and I have put many hours into our home this past year. We decided to start redoing many things, room by room. By replacing lighting fixtures, it seemed to make such a difference in the appearance of our space. There are a variety of new and stylish fixtures available today and we have enjoyed shopping and purchasing several. This single added touch can make a room appear modern and unique. It was a very inexpensive way to create an atmosphere we were looking for.

New Decor

This past year we have been making some changes through out our home. In our family room we have a corner with our big TV. It just seemed sorta bare. My daughter and I were talking it over and she suggested something she had seen done on HGTV. Well, of course I listened. I love HGTV. :) She talked of how they staggered shelves up in a corner and she really liked it. So I gave it a try. I think we'll keep it!

Got a Wish??

With Christmas almost here, we see people being more giving than ever. I was reminded of this as I came across a fun site, ceiva.com. I tried the Sit on Santa's Lap Experience and even uploaded my own picture. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was pretty cute! I don't want to give a lot away...but they have a unique way of using your picture to let you know about the great new product, Ceivashare Digital Photo Frame. It's pretty neat and definitely something I'd like for my own home sometime.

That's not all though. You can also enter a Got a Wish Sweeepstakes on this site. Each day of the contest (29 days), one person will be chosen to receive 500 dollars!! Isn't that great?? I know I'm not going to waste another minute...I'm going to submit my name today! How about you? If you'd like to learn more about the sweepstakes and how you can be a part of the Sit on Santa's Lap Experience, simply head over to their site and check it out. It's super easy and fun too. You can even share it with friends and family. Don't wait any longer, take a look and see what you think!

Christmas Lighting

How exciting! My son and his wife live in the south. They will be traveling home to the snow country soon, for Christmas! They decided to put up their Christmas decorations early so that they could enjoy them for a little while. Their son, Emry has not experienced all of the lights and beautiful decorations before. He recently turned one. He was quite intrigued by the brightness of the lights! It's going to be a great Christmas!

All Inclusive Vacation Packages

We have done our share of traveling, but haven't taken in one of the all inclusive vacation packages that are available out there. I was reading about one of the worlds most beautiful secluded white-sand beach areas, the Mexican Riviera Maya. The Karisma Hotels offer wonderful all inclusive deals to make your vacation unforgettable. These resorts take pride in their food and flavor. You will find them to be luxurious with the beach beds, beachside bar swings, designer custom built private havens. They will treat you like gold as you relax on a private stretch of beach. Click in and browse this great website and see for yourself.

Printer

Today we bought new ink cartridges for our printer. I have always wondered why each time we replace them we are prompted to print a test page or align the cartridges. I don't think we have a choice in the matter. It just does it!! To me it seems to be a waste of ink. It might be the brand of printer that we have, I am not sure. I just know that we were in need of a new cartridge and I'm glad we have it now. I need to print off my Christmas letters this week.

Just Enough

Last night we received 'just enough' snow to last the rest of winter. Of course, that is my opinion. It wasn't enough to sled, snowmobile or build a snowman but covered the ground ever so slightly. The city crew came by during the night and cleaned the streets and Bill shoveled the deck. I know there are many of you that love the huge amounts of snow but for me, this was just enough.

Designer Costume Jewelry

Now there is beautiful jewelry for everyone. Holsted Jewelers is a fast growing company. Over the past five years they have sold over 15 million items to customers across North America and abroad. They sell high quality designer costume jewelry. Every piece is inspected twice before it arrives at your home. They make sure the customer will be satisfied. This jeweler carries a wide range of beautiful items to choose from. Designers there have put together amazing gift sets that are suited perfectly together. Then the buyer will be given a special "set savings" deal and be given more for their money. That sounds great to me! Especially with today’s economy the way it is. Be sure and browse their website and look over all the awesome buys you can choose from.

Jake's Trip

This past week our son Jake has been in LA for training. He was able to take in some of the sites while there. He flew out this afternoon and has a layover in Dallas. He is actually able to have a little time with Josh, Di and Emry while he is there. He is lucky. We haven't seen them since this summer. Emry is our grandson and just turned one year old. It sounds like Emry went right to Jake which was nice to hear. Emry is so good with people and Jake loves his nephew and niece.

Web Cam

Since we got our web cam we have been able to chat some with the kids. It is very handy to use and it is a joy to be able to see our kids and grand kids. It has a built in microphone and we can take still pictures from the web cam and store them in a file. It is a Microsoft brand that we purchased on Ebay and we got a great deal. We are very pleased with it and plan on using it often.

Denver Restaurants

Through out the years we have enjoyed traveling to many diverse locations. We spent a short time in Denver Colorado, but would enjoy traveling back there again. The Denver Magazine is a wonderful source for finding information such as Denver Restaurants, sports, style and clothing, transportation, the arts and more. There restaurants have some of the finest world wide chefs. The city is very health conscious and it shows. They are not only concerned about the outer appearance, but also the inner appearance. We would like to spend more time there in the near future. I feel the Denver Magazine will be an awesome resource for our visit.

Thanksgiving

It's hard to believe that it will be Thanksgiving this week. When they say that time flies by, they are not kidding. as I grow older it seems to go faster. Thanksgiving is a time to slow down and reflect on the year gone by. We have so much to be thankful for. We have our family, health, jobs and more. We are thankful to our Lord for watching over each one of us. May your family have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Kmart Has More

The Holidays are such a busy time for most. We have our regular daily responsibilities on top of adding many new jobs to complete in a short period of time. We find ourselves making lists, shopping, wrapping, baking and more. Shopping can be quite time consuming. Now with the progression of technology, a person can shop online from the comfort of their very own home. We have found this to be quite helpful already this season. I am able to shop a little each day and not have to take a full day out of my already busy schedule to travel, fight crowds and use gas. There are great deals out there in cyber space. I was browsing the Kmart website and found they have quite a selection. You will see items from jewelry, tools, clothing, bed and bath, fitness and sports and more. They are running specials and you can see the sale price shown in the cart (not on the product page). Their online discount will be honored through November 26th. The Women's Kimono Wrap Sweater is now an extra 10% off when shopping on the Kmart website. Be sure to search by ID# 70198911. Monday Night Football

On a Monday there are many that are thinking it is football night! I have never really gotten into watching football so I don't actually care to watch it. Bill and the kids enjoy watching which is ok with me. I would rather watch some of the other shows that are on. I guess it is good that so many people enjoy the games. Just look at how many people are attending those games each week. There are sometimes tens of thousands of people at games. That is more than most of the towns around our area. Wow!

Sears Layaway

Christmas time is coming quickly. With the economy in the state it is in, we find many having a difficult time handling the Holiday spending. As always, we all want to find those special gifts for our friends and loved ones. We don't want finances to stop us from completing our goal. There is now a way to help a person work gradually towards Christmas day. Sears has brought back the Sears Layaway plan. Now you can shop and make those wishes come true! Find those special items and put them away and pay over a matter of weeks. It is an amazing program! Purchase the gift they are wanting today and grab those great discounted prices. With only 15% to 20% down it is held for you. How great is that?! I love browsing their clothing section. The apparel specials are wonderful. We are all in need of some warmer clothing with the temperatures dropping rapidly. I also noticed that they are running a sale on their Kitchenaid Mixer's. I absolutely love mine. I think it would make an awesome Christmas gift for a certain family member of mine. My husband is usually checking out the Craftsman tools that Sears carries. Over the years he has been given many different Craftsman tools from his dad. They have been great to own. The Craftsman Drill Driver stands out this year. It is a neat tool that looks like it would be quite handy with it's one hour charger. I think it's time to start building up our son's collection of tools. So now the financial pressure is off. Check into the Sears Layaway program today! You'll be glad you did.

Dessert

We have been skipping some desserts in an attempt to trim down a little bit. There are still times when we 'cheat' some and enjoy a snack but we have done pretty well without the goodies. Last week Bill made some cookies but when they were gone we pretty much have been doing without the sweets. So far so good. It sure is tough though.

Sears Super Saturday Sales

I always get excited when I see “door buster sale”! I was viewing the Sears’s website and see that they are holding a great Sears Super Saturday Sale on Saturday November 22nd! The sale is from 7:00am to noon while quantities last. What's not to like about that?! I started to browse the pages and saw that they are having 60% off on outerwear & sweaters for all of the family. With the temperatures continuing to drop, it's time to stock up on those warmer clothes. It's also perfect for Christmas time! In addition to that I noticed on their fine jewelry, they will be offering an extra 15 % off of their already reduced by 40%-70% prices. When you say jewelry, my ears perk up. I will always take notice of those sales. As I continued to read I saw an assortment of tools available at greatly reduced prices. Through out the years my husband often received Craftsman tools and they have been very durable and life lasting. We will have to take a closer look when we are at the store. For those of you out there that enjoy shopping for TV's, you will want to be sure to stop in and check out their line. They have all different sizes and discounts. They are also offering 18 month no interest for items over $799. Not only that, but they are also offering no payments - no interest until December 2009 on all your purchases of over $199 when using your Sears credit card. Be sure to shop Sears November 22nd. Check them out quickly while supplies last.

Around The Block

Our dog, Zoe, loves to go for walks. Her typical route is around our block. Bill usually is the one that takes her although I go with them sometimes. Tonight Zoe was begging to go and although it was very cold Bill headed out the door with her. I think Zoe would go by herself and end up at home but we have never tried that. She doesn't seem to mind the cold and at least it is snowing yet.

What You May Not Tell Your Doctor!

There are many issues in which people feel embarrassed and don't want to discuss with their doctor. I was recently watching a medical television show that was talking about this very issue. Women and men both are guilty of not being upfront with their doctor...on a wide range of topics. Some serious and some not so serious. One of the most popular for men was the desire to use a penis enlarger device. This is a very personal issue, and one that many are uncomfortable bringing up to their doctor. In this case it is possible for men to find the help they need with the MaleEdge penis extender. Some may not even know there is such a thing....but it's real, and if they educate themselves on devices like this that are out there, they may not feel as pressured to talk with their doctor about the issue of wanting a bigger penis. This is a very natural, and personal, thing for men to be concerned with, and it's great for them that there is a device out there to help them naturally and safely. They come in all colors and sizes to ensure that each person's specific needs are being met.

There are things in life that we sometimes just aren't comfortable talking with anyone about. If it's something that can be managed and taken care of safely without medical intervention it may very well be the best choice. Only you, and your doctor, can know for sure what path to take in each instance...but in the case mentioned previously something like MaleEdge may be the right choice. Their site, www.maleedge.com, has more information that would be helpful in guiding your decision.

Leaves

There have been a lot of leaves falling in the past couple of days. One of our neighbors is still outside cleaning up her yard. She is trying to stay ahead of the leaf 'problem'. By that I mean that if she doesn't keep raking and hauling leaves, she will have too many in her yard to deal with. This time of year makes it hard to keep a clean looking yard because the wind seems to just whip the leaves back where they came from. The city has been doing the best that they can to sweep the leaves up and haul them away but they can't keep up either.

Las Vegas NV

Traveling is one of our favorite past times. Throughout the years we always planned a family vacation. Our children looked forward to it. One summer we ventured across the United States to the west coast. We took in California and of course las vegas nv. We were gone for almost three weeks. The kids thought it was the best time. The memories we made are forever etched on our minds.

Toshiba Satellite

Technology has sure progressed over the years. What did we ever do without our microwaves, cell phones or computers, just to name a few things? We are on our computers daily. I use our desk top often, but also like using a lap top. Our present lap top is having some problems. I have found a Toshiba Satellite notebook that looks interesting. It may be our next purchase. Can't do with out a laptop computer.

Responsibility

It is our responsibility as adult US citizens to vote. I know that many people don't, for whatever reasons they may have. I encourage people to take an interest in and be part of the process. I know that we all want our votes to count, but it seems as though there have been some concerns that at times in our history, some votes have not been counted. What is wrong with our system? It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make sure the voting is done in an ethical manner. What do you think?

Home Business

Times have sure changed. You no longer have to leave your home to make money. Be it extra spending money or actual daily income, there are many opportunities to increase one's financial status. A home business is sure a nice way to earn some cash while not having to leave the comfort of your own home. You are spared the expense of travel and attire. It's definitely worth looking into.

Cheap t-shirts

Do any of you do any traveling? Over the years my family and I have vacationed quite often. We have been in different parts of the country and even out of the country. When traveling, we will frequently purchase cheap t-shirts for ourselves and for gifts for others. It's always great to have a t-shirt to grab and put on. They are many times so comfortable besides.

Treadmills

Many of us are more self-conscious about our weight and health then we ever use to be. I know as I grow older it is more difficult to keep those extra pounds off. We have looked into different types of exercise machines, such as : treadmills and elliptical machines. They help sculpt the body while burning off calories at the same time. It is nice to own and have accessible for easy use.

Boxes

Lately I have been saving up boxes of different sizes for Jenna. She has been selling items for me online and she was in need of boxes for shipping. I have some more for her now and will keep saving them until she doesn't want them anymore. It works for me too so I don't have to cut up the cardboard for recycling. Actually it is Bill that handles that sort of thing so I guess it is a good thing for him.

Sports Gifts

Well, it's that time of year again. Christmas is around the corner. Boy, the time sure does fly. I'm starting to try to put together lists of ideas for each person we will be shopping for this season. When it comes to the men in our lives, sports gifts are usually quite popular. We have been looking at some golf items already not to mention all of the team sport related products that are on the market. I'm sure we'll come up with something.

Diet Pills

So many people today have weight on their minds. Either they are too thin or they are feeling over weight. You will find a lot of different solutions being offered out there, from diet pills, diets, exercise, surgeries and more. What is healthiest and best for your situation. Be sure to do your research before taking this into your own hands.

Funerals

As we get older we find ourselves going to a lot more funerals. I guess the ones we love and know are all growing older along with us. Tonight when I got home I received a call from a relative letting us know that my husband's uncle had passed away yesterday. We were quite shocked. We hadn't heard that he was ill. He had gotten down to 114 pounds in the past few months. He's body could no longer handle the weight loss. We will be attending his funeral on Wed.

Suits

Have you ever thought how nice it would be to have a suit that fits perfectly? My husband has to wear a suit every day to work and while some fit him better than others, none are really a custom suit. He has purchases suits and had them tailored to fit him better, but are still not what I would call a custom suit. Many people buy a suit based on cost, usually trying to find the suit with the lowest price. There is a way to have the perfect fit and the style that you may be looking for by going to www.MySuitNY.com. There you can find the style, fabric and measurements needed to have the perfect fit in a suit that you will feel very comfortable wearing. My husband prefers pleated pants, a jacket with three buttons and a fabric of medium tones. At MySuit you will find the Made to measure suits from a company that has been providing their service for over 40 years. You can choose color, material, how many buttons on a jacket, pleats, you name it. My husband is very excited about the possibility of having a suit that really fits and is exactly what he has been looking for in his work attire. He is also wanting to tell his co-workers about this company. Browse this mens’ suit website to learn more.

Fireplace

We're so excited! The contractor building our mantel and hearth, dropped off the hearth to us the other day. So, now it was time for the plumber to come and hook up the gas and vent it out the side of the house. This morning they showed up early and worked until noon. It is up and running and functional. Now our contractor will return this week and add the beautiful oak wood casing and mantel around it. We are going to just love it, I know!

Wind

This past Sunday we had extreme winds in the area. Up to 67 mph winds were reported. There were trees that were damaged and some power lines down. We received just a little snow, but it didn't stay long. Since then we have had nice warm days and it sounds like that trend will continue through the weekend. It will be nice for all of the little kids out trick or treating tomorrow night. I prefer the nice warm weather.

Bows

Every time Zoe goes in for a haircut she gets little bows of ribbon put in her hair. They are attached with small rubber bands. They almost look like Ortho bands. I don't think she has ever gone more than a day after the haircut without losing at least one of the bows. They look very cute while they stay in, which isn't for long.

Election

I have heard several people say that they are tired of hearing about politics. I think it is our responsibility to vote but I too am plenty tired of the current process. It is hard to find a television channel without coming across something about the campaign. Being president would be a tough job and I certainly wouldn't want it. I am glad there are those who do have an interest in the position. I encourage everyone to get out and vote but know the facts before you do. Your vote does count.

Restaurant Reviews

I think that one thing most people today would say that they enjoy, is to dine out once in a while. I know as I grow older especially, my husband and I both enjoy food and the dinning experience. When traveling a distance from home, we sometimes are not really sure what type of an establishment might be of interest to us. We have needed guidance from an outside source. Now with restaurantica.com it has been made easy and quick for us to research restaurants. This site has a great base for restaurant reviews. You can name the state and even the city and search to find the dinning experience you are looking for. With a future trip planned for Pennsylvania, we are looking at the Philadelphia restaurants. It is user friendly and has so many types of foods to choose from. The restaurants are ranked from top to less popular in choices. The Cuisines are listed and locations and phone numbers shown. There are details given for each one such as Attire, Alcohol, Parking etc... With the personal reviews added besides, you are sure to get a feel of whether or not this is your type of place. I am looking forward to using this awesome website. Restaurantica has over 700,000 browsers each month and are a proud member of the United States National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA). Click in and join the thousands that have found this site to be very helpful!

Grooming

It was that time again. I ran Zoe over to her groomer today. It is about ten miles from home, but worth the drive. We have been very satisfied with how she has been looking. Poor Zoe had some really bad hair cuts in the past. Most of us can say the same. So when you find the right groomer, you stick with them. Well, today when we walked in, we found out that they had hired a new gal. Her name is Shelly and she pretty much did what I had asked her to do. Zoe's ears are a little bit shorter then usual, but she is looking good. I think we'll continue driving the ten miles every six weeks or so.

Warmth A Comin'

Soon we will have our new fireplace installed. What a happy day that will be. It would be nice right now to be able to turn the fireplace up and take the chill off. It should be installed within the next week or so. I am very excited. When we built our addition back in 1999 we did so with the idea of having a fireplace someday. Someday has arrived!

Burrrrr!!

Wow, what a change in temperature! Just the other day it was in the 60's, last night was in the 30's, tonight is supposed to be in the teens and then back to above 60 by Thursday. That is just wild, isn't it? Last night there were wind gusts of over 60 miles per hour. We even had a bit of snow mixed in yesterday. There is actually some snow left on the ground. I am not ready for winter.

The Doctors

It's no secret that I deal with migraines. I have had them quite frequently. I am one that thinks I need to plug on and continue through my day if at all possible. Due to this fact, most times I will suffer more then I would need too. I have doctored and found that laying down and sleeping is the best way to combat these terrible headaches and when I don't, they often worsen through out the day. My daughter, who also suffers, was telling me about a show "The Doctors" that she had been watching. On this show they were talking about headaches. Dr. Lisa said that there are five types: Sinus, cluster, tension, migraine and hormonal. She explained that headaches are more common in women then men due to hormonal changes. Migraines often affect one side of the head and are relieved by sleep. They then had Dr. Ordon explain the new technique of Botox injections. The injections are growing in popularity for treatment of migraines. It is injected into the sensory nerves that send pain impulses to the brain. They then demonstrated this technique on a 30 year old women and it seemed to help her.
They are also coming out with what they call the Headache Zapper. It is a hand held machine that is placed at the back of the head and sends a magnetic pulse to help block off the onset of a migraine. It must be administered to a person that can sense an aura. Research is showing that one zap can keep the doctor away. Since I don't get an aura or warning of any kind before getting a migraine, this machine would not work for me. The botox injections may be a new and upcoming thing. I'll have to keep watching it's progress. But, for now I need to learn to take care of me. I am trying to talk to myself and say, stay home, go to bed and then hopefully feel better quicker then I usually do. I feel for all of you out there that suffer with migraines.

Facebook

A few years ago my kids started getting involved with Facebook. At the time I didn't really know very much about it, just that they could communicate with friends through this site. It was also restricted to high school and college age at that time. Now it has opened up to all ages. My daughter decided that she would help set up an account for me. Since then I have had close to 70 friends join and it's fun to stay connected. It's a great way to share photos and current information with others. I think I'll continue.

The View

The ladies of The View

The View. Well, what can I say. I do turn it on once in awhile. I'm not usually home to even watch. When I do, it's to support Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She is my favorite on the show. Joy Behar is so opinionated and doesn't want to hear what anyone else has to say. She can really turn me off. Barbara Walters is not much better in my eyes. But, I do enjoy listening to what Elisabeth has to say. That is if they give her a chance to speak.

Diet and Exercise

What do you consider a healthier lifestyle? I have been researching information on this subject. When it comes to your age, do you feel your age or younger? Maybe you are feeling older? I am finding that there are a lot of different issues that can effect the way you feel and possibly lengthen your life. If we want to keep these bodies around for a while, then we must take care of them. Diet, exercise, safety in traveling, health issues, what is in our genes, habits and more, all can play a roll. Test yourself and see where you stand in the fight against aging.

BuySAFE Shopping Advisor

Shopping, one of my favorite subjects. Today, however it is a bigger concern for many. With the rising costs of fuel and the economy in the shape that it is in, people are thinking first before jumping into their vehicles and traveling very far from home. It has become easier to sit down in the comforts of our homes and shop on the internet. With that of course, comes the concerns of safety and protection. Who can you trust when making those on line purchases? Is it a scam or are they legitimate? No with the buySAFEbuySAFE shopping Advisor you can have a tool that can assist you in a safer and more secure shopping network. The Shopping Advisor can give you a doorway to those Bonded Merchants where you will find your purchases to be automatically protected by a bond guarantee. This guarantee is up to $25,000 and also includes identity theft insurance, all at NO COST to you! WOW, a person can't beat that. With over 320,000 eCommerce sites to search from, you are sure to find what you are needing. They work along side of Google, Yahoo, MSN and eBay. I'm sure you have heard of them before. I have found myself internet shopping more and more. It saves me time and money. Now I no longer have the concerns of safety and security. BuySAFE will be there for me. You too can go to this site and download your free BuySAFE application today.

Travel

I decided I would join my husband on a business trip. It is always fun to get away from the everyday life. We are in a very beautiful area where the amazing fall colors are everywhere to be seen. I love this time of year. The air is crisp and God's beauty is all around us. It's nice to take time to enjoy the view.

RealAge Test

I think that most of us are somewhat concerned with living a healthier lifestyle. We want to eat the right things, do the right things to lengthen our lives. What are the correct things to be doing? Is it our foods we should be monitoring? Is it more exercise? Maybe, it's how extra curricular activities? Are you a smoker or a drinker? There are many areas that can effect our well-being. I came across this RealAge Test. I found it to be quite interesting. It begins with some simple questions about your life style and family history. It then goes into health issues and covers medications you may be taking and how and if they were prescribed for the ailment. There are also safety issues covered. You will be asked how often you are in a vehicle. Are you the driver? Do you have airbags? How fast do you drive and are you on the cell phone while driving? It will also go into the area of exercise and more. I would say most days I feel pretty much the age that I am. Maybe, a little bit younger. This test helped me evaluate how well I may or may not be taking care of the only body I'm going to have. The results say that I am two years older then I really am. I must take a look at my diet and exercise for my future. Take the RealAge Test! It's free! You have nothing to lose. Only to gain.

Halloween

Well, it's that time of year. Halloween is around the corner and so is the candy. It is everywhere. Just what we do not need around our house. I am so bad about buying it though. It's fairly inexpensive and satisfies my cravings. You name it we have it on our counter. Whether it's chocolate or something sour, I usually have purchased it. From now until Easter, they put out some great sweet stuff. It sure makes it difficult to lose weight.

Search Engine

I spend quite a bit of time on the computer and have found that technology continues to advance. Years ago when I first was introduced to the internet, I had a healthy fear of it. I wasn't sure what I was doing or what I might do to our computer. It was difficult to maneuver and find my way around. It would take a lot of time just to figure out where to go and what I needed to do, before finding information I was in search of. Today there are several different search engines out there. Which are the best? Which are easy to use? Sometimes trying to remember how to get to them is a process. Now there is the Find.com Search Engine. It is amazing! Talk about user friendly and easily remembered. There are search engine names that are quite forgettable. How could a person forget find.com? It's made simple. I like that. A person can Find Jobs or Find People with very little effort. This search engine does the work for you. If you are looking to Find Friend, recreation, electronics, science, politics you name it, let find.com do the work for you. Click in and browse this search engine. I think you will like it also.

Born Alive

I heard about this website and what has gone on in our Government. It touched my heart. You may want to check out this site for yourself. This information has been on FOX news as well. It is sad to think that some feel that a small life doesn't have a right to live. There are others that believe differently. I am one of them along with President Bush.

Dansko

I take pleasure in shopping and one of the things I love to buy is shoes, shoes of every kind. If I have a new outfit I would like shoes to match. They are an important part of the apparel. Women have so many choices out there. Sandals, clogs, and boots you name it. Dansko carries just about everything you may be looking for. They have style while still delivering comfort. I'm excited to own my next pair!

Micro SD

I can remember purchasing our first computer. At the time the salesman said that we would never run out of space. It would do us for the life of the computer. He was wrong. It was less then a year and we were looking to buy more memory and maybe a micro sd memory card besides. Throughout the years our children have used memory cards to hold there school work and travel from home to class. They are definitely needed.

Puppy Training

I have been in conversations as of late that were about puppy training. I am no pro on the subject, but find it interesting. We have a seven year old Bichon who was very easy to potty train. I could count on one hand how many accidence she had in our home. We were told early on that a "bell" system could come in handy. We hung a bell by a string on the door that our dog goes out. We showed her how to bat at it so that we could hear her and quickly take her outside. She learned fast and she still uses it. I'm thankful that it was fairly easy to train her. I’d read a shocking statistic that the #1 reason a dog ends up in a shelter was because of housebreaking problems. I'm glad that Zoe didn't end up one of those statistics. There is a lot of information available now on line. Don't let your pet become a statistic.

More Questions

Fall

This is such a beautiful time of year. The weather is a bit unpredictable, but that's OK. In our area of the country, a person has to learn to dress for the occasion. We wear layers of clothes so that we can shed them as it warms up and put them back on as it cools off. Our grand daughter recently was outdoors exploring all nature has to offer. She hadn't played out in fall leave before. She will turn one in a week or so. She had a great time!

Questions?

Weather

The weather today was awesome! It has warmed up again and was nice and sunny. My flowers are even blooming out on my deck yet. This weather can hang around for quite sometime. Winter seems so long anymore and the summers so short. I guess this is where we chose to live.

Jewelers

Jewelry is one of my favorite topics. It is such a nice gift for a variety of occasions. Now with Holsted jewelers, you can do your shopping from the comfort of your home. Web Cam

We haven’t had much time to use our new web cam lately. It seems to work much better than our older one. The little bit we have used it was in talking to Jake a week or so ago. Jake’s camera is built into his computer and it works great. It is so clear and crisp. Ours is a separate unit that can either mount on the monitor or sit on the desk. It does seem to be a lot clearer then our old one was. It has been hard to find time to try it, but soon we will need to use it again and chat with our kids.

Glasses

Recently Bill and I both got new eye glasses. Neither one of us are very happy with them. Bill has had some headaches and thinks they may be from wearing his new glasses. I suppose it is possible to have gotten a prescription that isn’t quite right, but I don’t think that would be very common. In my case, I am thinking it may be the shape of my frames that is causing my vision to appear differently. They are wider and more narrow now. I don't seem to have as wide an area of clear vision as I did with my older glasses. We will keep trying the glasses, but may have to go back for a correction.

Maritime Attorney

Have you heard of the Jones Act or other types of Maritime issues? Well, Mark & Associates are a personal injury law firm whose maritime attorney supports the Jones Act. The Jones Act is there to provide financial compensation to seamen who are injured while working on ships, oil rigs and other sea vessels. Senator Barack Obama is saying that he is going to support the long time federal law that protects these seamen, to make sure that they have equipment and ammunition that is needed when required. The administration will continue to support the Maritime Security Program. To find out more, click into www.maritimelegalrights.com or www.jonesactrights.com.

Election

I have enjoyed keeping up on the elections, both local and national. It will be nice, however, when it is over. We don't have any political signs in our yard, but many of the neighbors do. Some of the local candidates have come by the house and dropped off literature. We know several of the candidates and what their platforms are. It is good that there are people that feel strongly about running for office.

Fall

It's that time of year. The colors are changing. It has gone from green to rust, yellows and orange. It is sure pretty in the fall. The cool crisp mornings turn to warmer afternoons. It's hard to know how to dress. I guess in layers. Bill decided he should mow and clean up the yard before to long, so that is what he did this past weekend. He cleaned up and put away our deck furniture also. It looks kind of bare out there now. I have a pumpkin sitting out that reminds us of the colder temps soon to be here. I think we are going to go over to the river in a few weeks and really take in all of God's beautiful creation. The colors should be amazing.

Beauty Schools In Arizona

Homemade Pea Soup

I decided that this would be the weekend I would make my Grandma's homemade pea soup. It has been a long time. We were actually home on Saturday, so it was the perfect time for it. You have to soak the peas over night in water and baking soda. Then in the morning I started the soup. It's really pretty easy. You just add water and begin boiling the peas. Add chopped potatoes and carrots to the water. Boil stew meat and onion slowly in a separate pan. When potatoes and carrots are softening, then add the meat and juice to the soup mixture. Continue to cook adding beef base and 1 tsp of baking soda. The soda must help break up the peas. Then the soup will thicken up and it's ready to eat. Boy, has it been good in this cool weather.

DVR

Bill and I usually watch one or two TV shows a week. We try not to get too hooked on anything. I must say, we do get quite hooked on American Idol when it's on though. Anyway, now that we have our DVR we are recording more of the investigation types of programs. We no longer have to worry about missing a show and always seem to have something to watch when we have a chance. We just bring up the DVR recordings and pick out what we would like to watch. We can fast forward through the commercials and get right to the show. It's a pretty handy recorder to have.

Weight Loss Diet Supplement

There are many people looking to lose weight today. Maybe that's you. There are different types of methods. It could be by healthier eating, exercise, diet pills or another type of weight loss diet supplement. What ever it is, weight loss is the goal that many are working towards. It feels great to lose those extra pounds. Now to get motivated to do so.

CBN

I was just watching CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network). They are celebrating 47 years of broadcasting. WOW! I didn't realize they had been on TV that long. They were going back to the beginnings. It was quite interesting. I remember when my children were young, back in the 80's, I would watch the show quite often. CBN can help keep you informed on news as well as wonderful lifetime stories. Turn the station and give them a try.
