Scrubs

I work in the dental field which means my work attire consists of cotton scrubs. I'm not sure how other people in the medical field feel, but scrubs are probably the most comfortable uniforms to wear in my opinion. What do you think? Would you agree? I really like them.

I recently got to thinking about the wide selection of scrubs out there when I came across BlueSkyscrubs.com. If you've never visited their site, they offer all kinds of scrubs sets at pretty reasonable prices! If you're looking for where to buy medical scrubs, you may want to check this site out. I'm very impressed with them, and I think others will be as well.

Warm Breeze

Today we are getting some warm breezes and the temperature is going to be in the high 70s. It really doesn't feel too bad. There is a chance of rain the next several days which will be a welcome change. We have had some very hot and humid days lately. I heard someone the other day talking about winter already. That is something I don't want to discuss right now.

Cigars

Growing up my dad always smoked. He was into rolling his own cigarettes and even enjoyed cigars. As a child I remember preferring the smell of cigars over cigarettes. As I have gotten older I began having migraines. I now have a problem being around any kind of smoke. Just this past weekend we were staying at a motel. It was smoke free so they had added a nice porch and rocking chairs where people could go outside and sit and have a smoke. There was a man smoking a cigar, rocking and reading a book. He looked comfortable.

Family

We find ourselves spending most of our free time with family. This past week and a 1/2 we have been going down to help our oldest son and his family to pack and move. They have recently found an acreage that they are purchasing, so we will find ourselves moving them again in about six weeks. It's so exciting to see them finding their first home and taking on a new position at work. Our prayers are with them through this transition.

United States Gold Bureau

As I came across the United States Gold Bureau, I've been able to learn more about them. This is the home to a large and dedicated staff of professionals committed to serving your precious metals investment needs. They are also known as America’s best dealer with a convenient market and competitive precious metals prices. I have enjoyed learning more about them, and have even considered purchasing bullion or silver from them. It seems to me like they make it fairly easy and from the sounds of it...now is the time to buy. If you're interested in learning more, I'd highly recommend checking the United States Gold Bureau out.

Birthdays

As I was looking at the calender recently, I realized that soon we have a lot of birthdays coming up in our family. Our twins in October, then our daughter in law, then our 4 grandkids in November and December, and then mine. It's a very busy time, but so much fun. It's neat having the grandkids' birthdays so close. I'm starting to wonder if all our grandkids will be born in those months. Wouldn't that be something?!

Stay at home moms

Our daughter and daughter-in-law are both stay at home moms. They absolutely love their time at home with the kids...being able to see all their firsts and just having that bonding time. I stayed home with our children and loved it as well. I am sure the kids enjoy having their mommy's home too. I think our Granddaughter talks about going to school and how excited she is, but when that day comes, I'm sure she'll miss her mommy.

Buying Gold, Silver & Other Precious Metals

The United States Gold Bureau makes it really easy for people to purchase silver, gold bar and other precious metals. They even send it directly to you or can also arrange for it to be delivered to a bank or other safe storage place. With the economy the way it is, purchasing some of these valuable coins and having them is definitely something I've thought about. I've learned a lot just visiting their website and am especially interested in silver since now is the time to buy with the world demand exceeding annual production. I am definitely looking forward to learning more and hope that at some point this is something I am able to do.

Grandkids

Our little grandkids are getting so big. I can't believe how fast the time goes! Our oldest two are going to be 3 in November and then our youngest two will be 1 in November and early December. It's hard to believe that they're that old already. Soon they will all four be running around playing with each other. I have sure enjoyed watching them grow and look forward to many more over the years. They are such a blessing.

Dad and Daughter

We had such a nice time at a wedding recently. This is a picture of Bill and Jenna dancing. Our grand daughter Kaelyn danced the night away. She was really something. When the floor would empty, she would stand there looking like, where is everybody going?

MilitaryDegree.com

Things have sure changed since I was in college. Even since my kids were in college! Now, getting an online degree is almost just as popular as going to a university and sitting in class. I think it's great, especially for people who are working or busy with other things in life. For instance, did you know that you can now earn your college degree online while you serve our country? Whether you want to advance your military career, or are looking to do something once you're done....a college degree can help. That's why I really like the idea behind MilitaryDegree.com. The degree programs here are tailored to U.S. Military personnel and their families. Education benefits earned from being in the military can be used for tuition which I thought was great too! Getting an online military degrees definitely something to consider.

Watching Sports

We were up visiting our daughter and her family last night. It's always nice to see them. We were able to stay for supper, visit and play with the grandkids. Life doesn't get much better than that! While we were there there was a football game on TV. My husband likes sports, but our son in-law likes watching sports on TV even more! I never used to be into watching that sort of thing on TV, but having family members who love it so much...I've grown to enjoy the action and suspense some.

I have a feeling my son in law and son do more than just watch it on tv. They also love to go online and watch the Cox Sports reports as well as Time Warner sports. I think their wives think it verges on being obsessive, but they sure seem to enjoy it. I'm pretty sure they know something about sunday ticket too. If you've never seen a sports nut, you should meet these guys. They enjoy playing them, watching them, and searching about them online.

How about you? Do you have sports nuts in your family? What sport do they enjoy the most? My favorite varies on how I'm seeing it. On television football is pretty interesting, but in person I really like basketball and baseball. We've been to games over the years and they're pretty intense. Usually it's just the television though. At least we get to see them in HD...that makes it even better!

Family

We love spending time with our kids and grandkids. This week we're getting to see all of them which is great! Last night we went up to our daughter's and spent some time with her and her family. The grandkids are so sweet. We had a great time. Then on Wednesday we get to spend some time with all three kids and their families...can't wait!

Home Security

Home security is probably something every homeowner has thought of at some point...but how many of us do something about it?! I know I probably don't do enough. How about you?? That's why I was happy to come across several great police security tips that can help me remember the things I can do to help keep my home and my family safe. It never hurts to learn more ways. Ours safety is of the utmost importance! There are the obvious ones like keeping the doors locked at night and when you're away from home, keeping grills and lawnmowers in a locked garage or shed, and never leaving a message on your answering machine that indicates you're away from home that I've thought of before.

However, there are some that I never really thought of when I came across the Fort Worth, PD list of security tips. Those like looking to see if your shrubs are trimmed to help prohibit the concealment of an intruder and is the door leading into the house from the garage as secure as those on the outside. I thought these were great and really got me thinking! It's so important we do everything we can to make sure our home, and ourselves, are safe! I'm really thankful to have come across these great sites and wanted to share them with you all as well.

For more information on home security, you can visit homesecurityteam.com.

Sales Jobs

With the rise in unemployment, there are many people out searching and applying for jobs. It might be sales jobs or another type of work. It is sad to see that so many are desperately seeking employment. I am thankful that my family have all found awesome stable jobs. My hope is that the economy will soon make a turn for the better and unemployment will drop. I'm sure that there are many who feel the same way that I do.

Terrible Twos???

Terrible twos, I don't think so! Is this not about the cutest picture you have ever seen?! Our grand daughter Kaelyn is modeling her new t-shirt. She means what it says. She is a sweetheart. As our daughter would say, it's not the terrible twos. It's just a time in their lives when they need us to teach and train them in the way that they should go. They are doing a wonderful job of it... :)

Updating our Home

Over the past several years we've worked very hard on making updates to our home. A lot of them have been on the inside, but many have been done to the exterior as well. Between the new siding, landscaping and lights...it's looking pretty good. I have to admit though, I do think it would be nice to get something different for our mailbox and address plaque!

I am always on the lookout for new home decor like this, which is why I was pleased when I came across Mailbox and Beyond! They offer everything from address plaques and address signs to mailboxes and outdoor clocks. I could spend a lot of time browsing their great selection of products. I am especially impressed with their house address plaques, but love the unique doormats and birdbaths too.

#1 Daytime TV Drama Y&R--Watch 1 Time--Try To Walkaway!

Guest post written by my buddy Angelo Cooper

The Young and The Restless' better known as 'Y&R' is my favorite daytime television show for many reasons. First of all, I have watched and enjoyed this show since the first ½ hour on March 26, 1973. My second favorite reason for loving this show is I am blessed to have the wedding favors from the marriage of Michael Baldwin& Lauren Fenmore (Christian LeBlanc and Tracey Bregman) in 2005 given to cast members, one of whom was my nephew who appeared during that time as the court baliff. Y&R which became a 1 hour program Feb 4, 1980 is the first daytime program to be broadcast in direct tv programming near Charlotte occurring June 27, 2001.

This show that has captured 39 Emmy awards not to mention nearly 100 for cast, crew, directors, writers etc., has not made the mistake of many daytime 'soap operas' that no longer exist. The creating team of William J. and Lee Phillips Bell have made sure never to allow Y&R to stray from the pathway of ethics, moral values, and faith. Genoa City, the Y&R setting, is not a 'mythical city' but the favorite vacation spot for the Bell family in Wisconsin. Their daughter, Laura Lee Bell, has been both a producer and character 'Cricket' who has recently reappeared in the summer of 2010 for a hometown business and pleasure visit.

Mowing Time

It seems like we just mowed the yard but guess what, it needs mowing again. I am thinking that it can wait until tomorrow. It isn't something I want to do this late in the day. It isn't that bad of a job unless it is extremely hot and humid like it was last Saturday when we mowed. It was awful that day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Gold Bullion

Are you looking to invest in something other then what you are presently involved in? For many they have watched their stocks plummet downward quickly over the past 18 months or so. It has become quite frustrating for many. The United States Gold Bureau can assist you in finding out more about the purchase of silver, gold bullion and other precious metals. They have a convenient, immediate and safe way of delivery to your own independent bank or depository. You will find that they offer these metals in coin and ingots form. Look into this site and see about increasing your financial portfolio today.

Weeds

This time of year there are plenty of weeds to be seen. We spray our grass with a chemical to help control the weeds but as the hot summer and rains come, so do the weeds. Some yards are looking pretty sad while others looks quite plush. I enjoy this time of year even with the weeds. I know that within a few months we will have cooler weather and maybe even snow.

Ridgeway Iowa

Last night there was a special program on Iowa Public Television about Ridgeway, Iowa. Apparently someone from that area had taken pictures 50-60 years ago and only in the past several years were the pictures developed. It was a very interesting program to watch. We have neighbors that grew up in the Ridgeway area. There was a book published also about the town. If you have the opportunity to watch the program or read the book, you should.

United States Gold Bureau

Many are watching and concerned about the future of their present investments. We have watched stocks plummet to an all time low. A vast majority of people losing one third of their investments. For those looking toward retirement, this is a poor reality. The United States Gold Bureau may have some information you are needing. They can supply you with the resources and news on the precious metals industry. It can help one make a more responsible and informed decision about their precious metals portfolio. The Bureau sells gold, silver and platinum in coin and bar form. They are also an authorized dealer for the U.S. Mint. It is worth a read. Browse their website for yourself.

Pizza

Last night we decided to order pizza for supper. We do that about once a month. It really hit the spot. We usually have taco pizza without onions. As usual, it tasted pretty good. We always have some left overs too. The best way to reheat the pizza is in the oven and you guessed it, I had it for lunch today!

Back to School Supplies - Now is the Time to Buy

The Author of this post is Rory Reilly

This is the time of year I like to set aside to take my children shopping. They are very particular about their box of crayons, pencils, erasers, lunch box, and so forth. My seven year old Lisa is usually takes more time in her choices than my six year old Eric.

I always have a budget before I walk out the door with my children. I am aware of what each one needs to begin their school year. Before leaving home I admit that I check all of the Sunday ads in the local newspaper and go to the stores that I believe offer the best prices for what I need to buy. Before the three of us leave home I always set my home monitored security alarm and this puts my mind at ease.

Then we hop in our SUV and we are off to the two stores I find offer the best selections and prices, Target and Wal-Mart. I generally go to Target first as it is closest to our home. Although we have been making this yearly trip since my daughter first entered pre-school, her tastes have become more prevalent in what she likes and what she does not like. Lisa is allowed to search the aisles for the pencils, erasers, and other items while I walk with Eric. Then the three of us head for the lunch boxes available - this takes the most amount of time because they are both particular about what they will be walking to school with each day. Actually, this shopping tour is always fun!

Unkies

We met my sister and her husband, brother and his wife and my folks at Unkies for supper. What a great place to eat! We were celebrating my mom's birthday. Unkies is a small restaurant in an even smaller town. Those small communities have some of the best food! We are definitely going back again sometime. This is a picture of me, my mom and twin sister. :)

My Favorite Restaurant

Guest Post:

Thanks to Marion Watkins

Last week, my family took me out for my 40th birthday. It was a surprise so after we set the security alarms systems before leaving the house, they placed a blindfold on me and drove me to the restaurant. The blindfold remained on until I got inside. I could tell immediately from the smells where I was. The smoky smell of meat and charcoal permeated the entire area. I was sitting at the Rendezvous, my favorite barbecue joint in the whole world. They are world famous for their dry rubbed pork ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. The restaurant doesn't look like much. After following a dark and narrow alley off of a busy street downtown, you descend into what looks like a cave. The walls are stained with charcoal and smoke and the ceilings and floors look greasy. It really looks like you're descending into the underworld with all the smoke around, but once the amazing aromas of roasted meat hits your nose, you know you're in for a little slice of heaven. Luckily it was a weeknight because the place is usually packed with people lining out of the door, a sure sign that the food inside is good. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server, Jen. She took good care of us that night and had our food out promptly. She was even in on the surprise and brought out a slice of cake with a huge candle on it at the end of the meal. Leaving full and content after spending a great night with friends and family, I'm not sure I've ever had a better birthday,

Grampa and Kaelyn

What great memories! I could just see this one day at Kaelyn's graduation or wedding. It was a special moment watching Grampa dance with his grand daughter.

Buying Sports Tickets

Our family is full of men who enjoy sports. My son and son-in-law are especially interested! They love all kinds of sports, but I think baseball is probably one of their favorites. I know they'd love to go to an actual game sometime, and would love to surprise them with tickets. I never knew where the best place to go to get them would be, that is...until I came across Ticket America.

I was amazed with how easy they make it to buy all kinds of tickets for any sport. As I was looking for baseball, I was able to find some pretty good tickets for the U.S. Cellular Field (which I think would be their favorite, the Turner Field, Busch Stadium and Citi Field. I haven't purchased them yet, but am thankful to have come across such a great ticket site. Check it out for yourself!
