Golf

I have never golfed but my husband just loves it. I have told him that someday I will try it. I think it would be fun to learn but I have been too busy with other things so far. I will keep telling him that I will learn to golf and maybe someday I will. I do have some old clubs in the garage.The game seems like it would take up so much time. There are times when he will actually be gone all day golfing. He did get the chance to golf on Monday with Scott but that is the first he has been so far this year. He has a couple other days he is planning on so he should be happy. Who knows, maybe I will surprise him and go golfing sometime.

Clean Up

How many times have you stumbled over stuff around the house and thought 'we need to get rid of some if this'? Well that is what went on at our house in the past week. We have a room in the basement that we call the office. Of course we can't use it as an office! There was too much stuff in the room to even walk through it let alone actually use it for something. To be honest we have been using it, for storage. Store it here and there and everywhere! We got a dumpster from the city and before the weekend was over we had it filled. Today I called the city to have it dumped so tonight we filled it again. From old toys to clothes and games we will never use again, it got dumpstered! There are some good used stuffed animals that we are going to give to a charity but two loads are out of our house. It is a great feeling to finally be able to walk into our office and see the things we have been looking for. Try it, you will be glad you did.

Are you a fan of the Miss Universe pageant? I really enjoy watching this each year when I have the chance. Actually it is on right now. Have you heard the great news? The band, The Police, will be on a new worldwide tour! Wow, I am pumped and can't wait to see this great band in concert. I have been a fan for many years and would love to see The Police in person. I was so excited to hear that they would be on tour and that there will be a new police cd. A Day At The Lake

Today was Memorial Day and we spent it with Scott, Jenna, Jake and Renee. We stayed at Jenna's last night and this morning Bill and Scott went golfing. They had a great time and enjoyed the weather too. This afternoon we all went to the lake and had a nice time on the pontoon and jet skis. Jake gave a lesson or two to Bill on how to soak another person while on a jet ski.
It looked a bit like it was going to rain but it actually stayed quite nice and we all got some sun. Bill thought Zoe would have liked the pontoon ride but I think it was best that she did not go with us to the lake. Wish Josh and Di could have joined us. They are our oldest son and his wife that live in Texas. Then the day would have been complete. A good time was had by all.

Sunny Day

Well, it turned out to be another nice day. After all the rain we had yesterday, it was sure good to see the sun shining. We've been gone all day. Had to take Zoe for her hair cut and then of course Bill and I had to do the same. Stopped and bought groceries and picked up a part for our stove. Bill got it all put back together and in working order. Thank goodness for that. :)

Haircut for Zoe

Tomorrow is the big day for Zoe. She gets her hair cut and her 6-8 week grooming. We should really probably take her more often. She is looking pretty scraggly right now. She enjoys going to see Stephanie, her groomer. We give her a bath when she needs one and she has gotten better about that. She still is not big on getting her face wet at bath time though. We try to do her face first and use a very gentle shampoo, then do the rest of her. She will be six years old next month so hopefully she will look nice on her birthday.

Training

Well, Bill is back from three days of training in Des Moines for work. It is nice to have him home. He had started supper by the time I got home from work today. He noticed that the oven wasn't getting warm like it should and then I remembered that I had seen a big spark in the oven last night. It looks like the lower heating element isn't working sooooo we are going to try to cook supper using the broiler setting. I am not sure how it will work, but we will find out. Bill will check into getting a new heating element. If that doesn't work I guess we will be buying a new stove.

Great Day!

My sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery a couple of weeks ago and they thought she may need both chemo and radiation. Today when she went back to the Doctors, they told her they had caught the cancer at a stage 1 and that she wouldn't need chemo after all. Only the radiation. Thank the Lord for a good report!

I'm so excited to watch American Idol this week. Can you believe that Melinda Dolittle was let go last week? I was sure she would win it all. A New Week

WOW, another week begins. They go by so fast. I decided I needed to do some major spring cleaning downstairs, so I had a dumpster delivered today. I started working on what we call our office. Graduation

What a busy weekend. We went down to watch our daughter's Pre Kindergarten class graduate and move on to the next stage in life, Kindergarten. It was so cute. The kids just love our daughter. It was great to watch. Then we went to a Graduation Open House. Laura's, our daughter in-law's sister. It was a good time and we got to see Diana (our daughter in-law). She was home from Texas. She is expecting in Oct. and looks so cute with her baby tummy. Then back home to more graduation celebrations. It's a busy month for most.

Weather Change

Wow, the weather has really changed in the past couple days!! It was very windy and quite hot on Sunday and it started to cool off by Monday. Today it was only in the 60's after the nice rain we had last night. It seemed like the rain was one of those gentle rains. We had some thunder but no big storms in the area. Fridays

Lawn Sprayer

I had also purchased one of those hose end sprayers and was ready to apply the stuff tonight. I had already done much of the front yard and noticed that the container still had the same amount in it as when I started. Bummer!! I then tried to see why the sprayer was not working correctly. No such luck. I then got out the old hand held unit. I was glad I had it in the garage. I am now thinking about buying a new hose end model.

The Movie "Bug"

WOW! Have you seen these posters that are out to advertise the new and upcoming bug movie by Lionsgate Films? I'm always looking at posters of movies to get a feel of what they might be about. These give you a sense of an intense scary movie. It looks mystifying and sinister. For those of you out there that love a horror film, I think this is just the one for you. By the posters it seems that there will be bugs like we've never seen before. Will they kill people or just take over them? It leaves you wanting to know the mystery of this thriller. Ashely Judd is the main character in the movie and is displayed on both posters. She looks very serious and troubled. Will she make it or not. The posters are clear-cut, showing the stars and their involvement with these creatures/bugs. I enjoy a good action filled, nail-biting movie. This seems to be one that could get your heart racing a bit. The bug movie looks like it could be that type of motion picture. The posters draw you in and cause you to wonder what will really happen. Beautiful Day

What a gorgeous day it was today. Can't believe how the week has flown by again. Seems like yesterday we were packing up to move things down to my son's new apartment and now it's been a whole week already. Have plans to go and get some groceries this weekend. Plants

Well, we're starting on our yard now. We pulled out all of the trees and bushes in front of the house last summer, so now we need to replant. I've picked out all of the plants and they were delivered to our home over the weekend. I'm going to pay the Greenhouse to come and plant them. A Day Home

With all that was going on this weekend, I decided to take the day off from work. It's nice just to be home and catch up on somethings. Busy Weekend

So how was your weekend? We started ours by helping our son move into his new apartment. Actually he and his girlfriend, Renee, had moved a lot of his stuff already. We went to eat pretty late at Olive Garden, one of my wife's favorite places to eat. We were very tired after a long day and night. Jake graduated from college on Saturday and we were again quite busy. After graduation we had to eat again. We decided to eat big again, this time at Texas Roadhouse. Yum! It's that time of year again. The grass just keeps growing. Can't complain though. It's good to have things greening up around here instead of that white stuff. Rain Rain Go Away

Well, it looks cloudy and rainy today. I don't think it's suppose to rain until late tonight. My daughter is coming today and is going to stay and go with us this weekend down to see my youngest son. Zoe Had A Bath

Our dog is a Bichon and her name is Zoe. She has never been a real fan of her bath time, although she has gotten better. Two nights ago it was time for her bath and she came right into the bathroom and walked towards the tub! Once in the tub I try to get her head and face done first. I think it is her face that she is not thrilled with getting wet. She stands quietly, until she shakes water all over. When I am done washing and rinsing her she puts her front feet up on the tub edge and I dry her face first. It is fun to watch her run around the house trying to dry off.

Car Trouble

Not that anyone does, but I really don't like car trouble! My work car had an oil change a couple weeks ago. From there things have gone downhill. It then had a coolant line leaking. Planting

So now that our new siding and window job is finished, we can go on to our next project. Last fall we removed the old trees and shrubs from in front of the house. Now we plan on replacing them with new ones that I am getting from the local green house. I think we will have them plant too. The new plants cost plenty and I want someone with experience to do the job. I am sure we could do it, but when would we? Sometimes it is just easier to have the job done, don't you think? My husband has been talking about a garage for over twenty years and maybe within the next few years he will have it, right where he wants.

American Idol

Well, what do you think about the American Idol show? I have never really watched it regularly until this year. I enjoyed the auditions and now I hate to miss any of the shows! New Air Conditioner

Our old air conditioner was probably about thirty five years old. It still worked ok but apparently there are some new regulations concerning appliances. The newest versions require all new lines, I was told. Fortunately my plumber had a couple holdover units that would work without a lot of changes. Since we just got new windows and put new siding on the house, it was the right time to have the new air conditioner installed too. It is very nice looking besides working well. Gorgeous Weather

The weather has just been gorgeous these past couple of days! I was outside with Bill last night putting up one of our new plants, and I could have just sat on our deck swing for hours! The temperature was just perfect out...not too cold, and not too hot! Zoe has even been enjoying this weather...as she spends much time outside whenever she can. This Weekend

I've been quite busy the past couple of weeks getting things ready so that we can go down and help our youngest son move out of his dorm and get settled into his new apartment.
