Price Of Gas

I noticed that gas prices have been coming down.  Who sets the price of gas?  Do you think it is somehow controlled by the government?  I don't know why it goes up and down as it does.  Just four years ago gas was about half the price that it is now.  Back then we thought prices were high and now we are accustomed to high prices.  Why do we look at the recent price drop and think it's so great?  It is still well over $3 per gallon.  That is a terrible price.  I hope it continues to drop in price.

Christmas Lights

This year we didn't hang as many Christmas lights outside.  My husband was happy about that.  There have been years that we probably over lighted our house so this is a nice change I guess.  We have neighbors that still put hundreds of lights on their home, some that are multicolored.  They look very nice but I am glad those lights are on their homes and not ours.

It's that time of year!!  I've started my Christmas baking!  There are trays of cut out cookies and kringla in the freezer now.  Those are the two kinds of cookies that can be so time consuming.  It feels good to have them done.

Floor Puzzles

When the kids were all home yet, we would enjoy family night on Fridays.  We would watch movies, have pizza and at times put together great floor puzzles here.  It's so neat to see them come together.  We also had a few 3D puzzles.  Those were pretty cool also.

The Landing

My husband and I decided to take a short trip to Eastern Iowa.  It was so pretty.  We stayed where my aunt and uncle had taken my folks a couple of years ago.  It was a nice time!

Fun Times!

I stopped at my daughter's house and had a chance to play with the grand kids.  They wanted to play with hair, so we decided to put curlers in.  They were tickled.  It wasn't too easy to put them in Kaden's hair.  It's pretty short.

Outdoor Patio Heaters

When we moved into our new home, we gained a patio that we could use for grilling and having family and friends over.  Of course, as the weather has been cooling, we found we should look into outdoor patio heaters so that we would be able to use our patio longer into the Fall.  We began by checking the Internet and we not only found outdoor patio heaters but a great deal more.  We also found chocolate fountains that we could use as we have been to many parties where they were a big hit.  We wanted to add as much to the fun of our patio as possible.  Propane heaters were also checked out and discussed as optional methods of providing heat where it was needed to keep out patio comfortable as the chill of Fall set in.  With a beautiful new barbeque, we were not quite ready to give up grilling out and the food always tastes so wonderful when you grill.  I know it won't be long and in our area, the snow will be falling and we will have to wait till Spring before we can once again get outside onto our Patio and enjoy it again.  And with outdoor patio heaters available, we know we will be able to use them in the Spring, as well.  I guess we get over anxious to get outside when Spring comes, but after you have been cooped up all winter, you are ready for some fresh air and to get that grill going again and once more enjoy our beautiful patio.
We have 7 lovely grandchildren who can hardly wait to spend time in our new home with us and we always enjoy it so much when they can come to visit.  Being able to take them outside and get lots of fresh air is good for all of us and it helps the children sleep better too, at least I think so. In addition to using patio heaters for the patio, they would very much come in handy for an outdoor wedding and/or reception.  In order to keep the guests comfortable, radiant heaters and propane heaters would be a great advantage.  Any outdoor event would benefit from the many types of heaters available.

Grand Baby Fun!

We were having fun watching our grand children the other night!  They were so good.  We fed them supper and got them in their pj's.  They never fussed!  What a joy!

The other day we went to a pizza place that we had never been to before. They specialize in the New York style pizza. We ordered two large pizzas which were 18" each. Wow, they were huge. Of course there was not a chance that we were going to finish them. We had six adults and four kids at lunch and only finished one full pizza plus two slices of the second one. It was good pizza and it made for great left overs. I don't know if I have ever seen such big pizza slices. They covered the entire plate. Good pizza and a good price.

Our youngest son recently got married. They venue was up near Estes Park. It was so beautiful! She had natural wild flowers for boutonnieres and corsages. The bridesmaids made their own bouquets with long-stemmed wild flowers! Everything went together so well. It was gorgeous.

Our youngest son is getting married on Saturday to a sweet girl we all love. It is very exciting. They are being married in a very unique place. It is in the mountains. This setup can prevent the water from sipping in, but it can also make the cake cook unevenly.

In the last few years our family has grown immensely and we find ourselves in the market for birthday invitations for so many different occasions. To begin with we have gained several grandchildren and each one will be celebrating their birthday at a different time and place of course. We wish to invite as many of our family as possible to that very special first birthday. Since he is reaching a certain milestone in his life, it is always fun to celebrate those in a special way. Old Dog, NewTricks

Some say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks but our dog doesn't seem to know that. Even though she is almost 11 years old she does learn to do new things. She is a pretty good dog. There are times that she is kind of a pain, like waking us up way too early in the morning, but overall she is a good addition to the family. She can shake, beg and roll over but I do wish she would do a better job on walks by staying by my side when not on a leash. If you have ideas in that regard please let me know.

Can you remember the types of clothes you wore while being pregnant? The styles sure have changed. The blouses I wore were big and the dresses were like wearing a tent. Easter Dinner

I am planning an early Easter dinner this Saturday as it is also my youngest son's birthday. We will have all the grandchildren there. It will be a great family time. Easter is probably the best celebration of all because our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, went to the cross, died and rose again and is in Heaven interceding for us now. Spring

Wow! What an awesome winter we have had! I can't believe it's already spring time. The snow (what little we got) has melted away. The grass is green, trees are budding and some flowers are blooming and it's not even April yet. I love it. There have been many years where we deal with so much snow and cold and spring comes late. My husband is a teacher in our local high school. The economy has been so bad lately, and it has affected a lot of people and businesses. In the latest faculty meeting at my husband’s school, he told me that they said they were going to have to lose seven teachers next year. Youngest Family Member

Caysen is the youngest family member! He is growing so fast. Now almost 4 months old, he is already holding himself up some and making those cute little noises babies make. I love his smile!

Well, I decided that I'd lost too many things that way and it was time to actually come up with a decent storage solution.

When I went online searching for storage solutions for all that makeup, the better to actually see what I have, I found a lot of info on Sears Heating and Cooling. Our climate control in our home has been off for a while now and I'm sick of it, so I decided to take some steps toward getting a better system through Sears.

I also found some great ideas for makeup organization, including investing in a lacquered tray to keep on my vanity to hold all of my everday makeup wihtin reach. i'm going to keep the stuff for specail occasions in a bag though so my vanity doesn't look so cluttered.

There are those families who choose to leave behind the egg decorating and the other parts of the holiday that are deemed by them to be unnecessary in favor of religious observance. It is also important to note that Easter is not just a time for putting on pastel colored clothing decorating eggs and giving gifts in baskets. It is about something that is much more important than that.


There are many symbols of the holiday that transcend the pagan holiday and have since been changed to have more of a spiritual meaning such as eggs and rabbits. No matter how the holiday is celebrated it is nevertheless an important holiday for many people regardless of their background or social status. It is also a tremendously fun day for children of a variety of different ages as well as the adults. Holidays of any kind are great excuses for the whole family to get together and have fun all while enjoying each other?s company. It doesn?t matter in the slightest what you do in order to celebrate any holiday as long as you have a good time and enjoy the family being together.

Redwood picnic table

This past Fall we moved after 28 years living in the same home. It has been somewhat bitter sweet, but are loving our new home. We have work to do and are excited to see how everything comes together. I have been thinking over what we might do out on our patio. I saw that a person can purchase a redwood picnic table. I'm wondering if that might fit in well. It's fun to explore!

Baby Caysen

Our newest grandson Caysen Reed! He's growing up so fast. He is such fun! I love when he smiles back at me and starts to make little noises. They are the sweetest!

A Family Valentine

Valentine’s Day is not far away and I’m already planning for the special day. It’s tough on a budget so I’ve been thinking about what we can do at our house that is not only money conscious but includes the whole family. My plan right now is to cook a nice dinner and serve it on our good china in the dining room—it will be like eating out at a fraction of the cost! We rarely use our good china for the adults and I don’t think the kids have ever eaten of it so it should be a real treat. I’ve started looking for recipes and am looking for something fancier than our everyday fair but easy to make. I already have all the ingredients for our family’s favorite flourless chocolate cake. It’s one thing I make maybe once a year that isn’t that hard just time consuming. After our fabulous fancy dinner, I’m hoping there will be a good movie on directtv that the family can watch together. I’m looking forward to it already!

Migraine Procedure

For twenty plus years I have suffered with migraines. After seeing many doctors and trying different meds., I still find myself struggling. It's difficult to deal with at times. I've worked on pin-pointing my triggers and have heard of a Migraine procedure that might help. I'm not against trying new things. Migraines are something I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Ipad

My husband got a new Ipad this past year. I have used it some but love my Mac. He enjoys the Ipad and has lots of apps on it. From games to music and movies to photos that little device is pretty cool. I don't know much about it but I do know that his is the Ipad 2. I read on the internet that there may be a 3rd one coming out. I would guess that eventually he will want the newest version.

snare drum

When I was in school I really didn't have an interest in anything musical. Now I wish I would have been more involved in music and instruments. My kids all played an instrument while in school and I enjoyed listening at home and at concerts. My youngest child loved pounding on things and at one time wanted a snare drum. He ended up taking guitar lessons and learning quite a lot on his own. He still plays today. Music is a magical thing. It can take you back to those special moments in life.

Light Timer

I have a small artificial tree with lights that I put on the front porch. We attached a timer to it so the lights come on about dusk and stay on for six hours. I remember when I needed to plug and unplug lights each night. The timer is so easy to set up too. Whoever designed it must have made a fortune. We used to hang lights from our gutter too but I think just having the small tree is enough.

I can remember when we didn't even own a cell phone. Boy, times have sure changed. Now just about everyone is carrying a cell phone or Téléphones cellulaires as some may call it. It's like a safety net. A person hates to leave home with out it. It's a good feeling to know that you can call anyone at anytime, anywhere. It's especially nice when traveling.
