Dog Grooming

I have wondered how difficult it would be to groom our dog.  We take her in to be groomed about every 6-8 weeks and pay about $35 each time.  Our dog is pretty mild mannered so I wouldn't think she would be that tough to groom.  But, is it really worth the hassle and time to do that job myself?  I guess for now I will continue to pay for grooming:(
