Warm Breeze

Today we are getting some warm breezes and the temperature is going to be in the high 70s. It really doesn't feel too bad. There is a chance of rain the next several days which will be a welcome change. We have had some very hot and humid days lately. I heard someone the other day talking about winter already. That is something I don't want to discuss right now.

Storm Clouds

This afternoon there were some pretty scary looking clouds in our area. We did get a little rain but no real storms came out of this particular system. We have had plenty of storms already this year. Our yard is still damp so I don't think we are in desperate need of more rain. It has been very hot and humid but it looks like the temperatures will be lower next week.

Tornados

Here are some photos of the damage left by the tornado activity on Thursday night. They say the one tornado reached over a 1/2 a mile wide.

Too Much Ice

We have plenty of snow and ice. There is quite a lot on all roof tops in town. One neighbor got his snow blower on his roof and cleared the snow off. I wonder what damage may have been done by doing this. I think there is too much ice all over town but I guess soon it will melt and we will be mowing grass.

It has been a tough winter this year. We have had freezing temps, ice, snow, thunderstorms, rain, sleet, frost and fog. We have also had some beautiful winter days!

High Winds

My son's live in a city about two hours from us. Last week they experienced a storm that brought wind gusts of 60 to 100 mph. It was sad to see what such winds could do. There were trees over a hundred years old that snapped and were destroyed. The one large tree or maybe I should say trees that is well-known in the area was also damaged. It is four trees that have grown together as one. It is truly sad to see.

Blizzard

Today we were supposed to have mild temperatures and some wind. They forgot to tell us that there may a few flurries in the air too. Actually more than flurries. And wow is it windy!!?! Several cars are stuck on the highways due to drifting. At times it is like a blizzard. If you don't have to go out, I would suggest that everyone stay at home.

When Will It End?

Do you think the snow and ice will stop soon? It seems like we have had more than normal. It has been very cold too. Texas has even been getting freezing rain and iced over cars. That seems crazy!! I am glad it is now January because winter is downhill from here. That is what I say to make myself feel better. At least it isn't October and snowing this much.

Wind

This past Sunday we had extreme winds in the area. Up to 67 mph winds were reported. There were trees that were damaged and some power lines down. We received just a little snow, but it didn't stay long. Since then we have had nice warm days and it sounds like that trend will continue through the weekend. It will be nice for all of the little kids out trick or treating tomorrow night. I prefer the nice warm weather.

Work on the House

We were supposed to work on our siding tomorrow but there is a winter storm here and lots of sleet and going to turn to snow tomorrow. So disappointed we won't be able to start on it. Sounds like it is going to be bad until Sunday night.

Heavy Winds

It was not supposed to snow today but we had very heavy flurries and very high winds and it was just like a whiteout. There were a number of accidents on the interstate and the National Weather Bureau has put out a warning about bad visibility. I am glad I don't have to go anywhere tonight.

Thursday

Kind of a gloomy, cloudy day today but warming up alot for January. It's supposed to be much warmer tomorrow before a big cool down this weekend. Seems like the weekends have been cold and snowy now that it is later in winter. Spring can't be too far off
